If you do not want the Student Health Insurance Plan, you must decline or opt-out of coverage by submitting a waiver. You may only opt-out of coverage during the following Waiver Periods:
Spring/Summer Semester - 11/20/2023 - 02/19/2024
Summer Semester - 05/01/2024 - 06/17/2024
All international students attending Texas Tech University on a non-immigrant Visa status who are enrolled in 1 or more credit hours are required by the University to have health insurance and to submit proof of insurance annually. The University has established two circumstances in which an international student can request a waiver to the student health insurance plan by providing alternative health insurance coverage. In order to be approved for a waiver, your alternate health coverage must meet or exceed the requirements as set forth below and be submitted by the February 19, 2024 waiver deadline.

Please note: travel plans or plans that require you to pay for treatment yourself and then apply for reimbursement will NOT be acceptable for waiving the Texas Tech University Student Health Plan.
